After much prayer and reflection, Wounded Warriors at Nebo will be formally closing this ministry effective June 1, 2026.

We are deeply grateful for God's faithful guidance through the years, and for the many donors and volunteers He so lovingly provided to sustain this ministry.

For 16 years, it has been our honor and blessing to serve the wounded, injured, and ill in the Soldier Recovery Unit at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. We carry deep gratitude for every life touched and every opportunity the Lord gave us to serve with compassion and love.

If you are seeking a 501(c)(3) ministry or organization that specializes in therapeutic outdoor activities, we encourage you to consider Veterans Adventure Therapy in San Marcos, Texas. You may also wish to explore Texas Para Sports' military program .

Our Name

People have asked where we got our name or what is Nebo so perhaps there are others with the same question.  It took a while for us to find a name, but believe this one is appropriate based on the following.  Nebo is the mountain GOD took Moses to when showing him the Promised Land where the Israelites would find hope and respite from their journey. Deuteronomy 34:1 “Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan.” (ESV)  In addition, the country home where we first hosted the Warriors and their families was at one time the old Nebo school.  It was a place where they could find respite from the hectic life on base and feel there is hope in their future.
