Caregiver Retreat

  • January 9, 2020January 9, 2020
  • by dottietheadmin

This weekend event will focus on women functioning as caregiver for their Warrior spouse, daughter or son. It will be a place to exchange experiences and knowledge. There will be on site counseling by a professional trained to deal with the challenges facing military caregivers. Since this will be a ‘working weekend’ no children will be allowed.  A private residence will be used for the event. A trip to the spa is also on the agenda. Food, Lodging and Spa provided by Wounded Warriors at Nebo. Space is limited so contact Sharon Massey,    [email protected]  if interested.  We realize there are men who serve as care-providers so if enough interest is shown we will organize a weekend for you all.

Cadre R & R

  • October 17, 2019
  • by dottietheadmin

This R & R is specifically for Cadre/Staff and family.  As these men and women provide care for the wounded, injured and ill they often suffer from compassion fatigue and/or secondary PTSD.  Just like the people they are ministering to, they need a break from time to time.  This weekend in the Hill Country is designed with that in mind.

Guests travel to Fredericksburg, TX on Friday for a weekend of relaxing and having fun.  Attendees arrive sometime after 3 pm Friday, check into their lodging and later meet for dinner at a local church.   Saturday activities are entirely up to the guests.  They are free to explore the town, attend the movies, tour the museum and art galleries, etc., or just hang out for the weekend.  They are encouraged to attend a local church Sunday prior to returning home.   Lodging and meals are provided by Wounded Warriors at Nebo in conjunction with local churches.  Admission to the Fritztown Cinema and the National Museum of the Pacific War is provided to those interested by Wounded Warriors at Nebo.  Space is limited so check with the WTB Chaplain’s office to sign up.  There should also be a sign up sheet at the Warrior and Family Support Center.

August 6th Card Making Class

  • August 12, 2019
  • by dottietheadmin

We had 7 people join us for card making at WFSC (Warrior Family Support Center) last Tuesday.  We were having so much fun that Sharon & I both forgot to take pictures during the class.  Thankfully we have the samples so can share them so you can see what everyone made.

After the class we enjoyed a yummy Gooey Butter Cake made by a volunteer in Fredericksburg.  If you are in the area next Tuesday, August 20 come join us.  The class starts at 10am and is usually over between 11:30am and 12:00pm.  Jackie and Jan will be teaching and of course there will be a really good dessert.
