Family R & R, 2 December, 2016
The rain just kept falling most of the day Friday, then there was a break just about time for the parade. After the parade many of the families checked out the “After Glow Party” and the Ice Rink at Market Platz. There were also several art galleries open as it was 1st Friday Art Walk evening.
Saturday brought more scattered showers but our guests didn’t let that keep them from enjoying the day. They went to the Museum of the Pacific War, movies, Pioneer Museum, shopped, drove around exploring the town, etc. and somewhere in there stopped for great pizza at West End Pizza. Then everyone met at the Memorial Presbyterian Church for dinner and a puppet show and to exchange stories of their adventures. The puppet show, presented by Fredericksburg United Methodist Church puppeteers, was about the real meaning of Christmas. Young and old alike were mesmerized by the performance. Then to the children’s delight, the ‘puppets’ came out to meet the children.
Very few of the families had been to Fredericksburg before so they wanted to ‘see everything’ possible in their short stay. Many commented on how friendly people were and how pretty the town is.
Wounded Warriors at Nebo wish to thank those who helped make this Family Weekend a success:
West End Pizza, Museum of the Pacific War, Inn on Barons Creek, Mamacita’s, Memorial Presbyterian Church, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Puppet Ministry,
