April Showers
It always amazes me how God provides just what we need. The April R&R was scheduled for the 1st thru 3rd with the first event being a picnic in the Market Platz. It rained all day Thursday and was still spittin Friday morning. However, by mid afternoon the rain had stopped. It was chilly but that didn’t keep the warriors and families from enjoying the outdoors and for most, their first view of Fredericksburg. Many enjoyed galleries participating in the First Friday Art Walk and others checked into their lodging and just “crashed” getting some much needed rest.
Saturday morning most of the couples and several of WWAN team attended a morning devotional conducted by Chaplain Ginsburg at the Fredericks’ home. Before heading out for more adventures, we gathered in the field behind the house for photos in the blue bonnets.
Dinner was provided by the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Society (I love their fish dinners!). Everyone was exchanging stories of their adventures over dinner. Some had driven the Willow City Loop, three had participated in the LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour. One soldier was exhausted from walking all over Fredericksburg exploring and several checked out the Museum of the Pacific War and the Wildseed Farm.
What started with much needed rain turned into a beautiful weekend!!
